{"id":347,"date":"2018-10-25T09:05:29","date_gmt":"2018-10-25T07:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ivcie.be\/\/de-interregionale-verpakkingscommissie\/"},"modified":"2020-02-11T12:03:29","modified_gmt":"2020-02-11T11:03:29","slug":"history-of-the-irpc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ivcie.be\/en\/history-of-the-irpc\/","title":{"rendered":"History of the IRPC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>30 May 1996 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivcie.be\/en\/the-cooperation-agreement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooperation Agreement<\/a> is created as a legal framework for European <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/dir\/1994\/62\/oj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Directive 94\/62\/EC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1997<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Walloon Region, the Flemish Region and the Brussels-Capital Region<strong> jointly set up the Interregional Packaging Commission.<\/strong> The IRPC is responsible for ensuring proper compliance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivcie.be\/en\/the-cooperation-agreement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooperation Agreement<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fostplus.be\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fost Plus<\/a> officially becomes the accredited compliance organisation for the management of household packaging waste, responsible for the selective collection of PMD, glass and paper\/cardboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>1999<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/valipac.be\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Valipac<\/a> officially becomes the accredited compliance organisation for the management of industrial and commercial packaging waste. Companies that join Valipac are in compliance with their statutory reporting and take-back obligations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11 February 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>European Directive 94\/62\/EC is amended by <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/dir\/2004\/12\/oj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Directive 2004\/12\/EC<\/a><strong>.<\/strong> The definition of the term \u201cpackaging\u201d is broadened and Europe sets higher targets for recycling and recovery of packaging waste.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2007<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The IRPC celebrates its 10th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2008<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivcie.be\/en\/the-cooperation-agreement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooperation Agreement<\/a> is drawn up, based on European Directive 2004\/12\/EC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 January 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the sixth constitutional reform, the IRPC now also takes on the role of the Belgian waste transit authority.<\/p>\n<p><strong>26 September 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The IRPC celebrates its 20th anniversary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>30 May 1996 The first Cooperation Agreement is created as a legal framework for European Directive 94\/62\/EC. 1997 The Walloon Region, the Flemish Region and the Brussels-Capital Region jointly set up the Interregional Packaging Commission.
